Bring a little magic to a kids life Big Brothers Big Sisters receives more than half of its operating income from private donations and special event fundraising. We depend on individuals, corporations, and foundations to invest in our program.
Recent census data indicates over 30,000 at risk children could benefit from local Big Brother Big Sisters programs. BBBS is also more focused and working harder for every dollar we receive. As we grow more efficient fiscally, we also continue to grow in terms of the number of children we serve. Liaison from Jefferson Park Elementary:
I think Big Brothers Big Sisters is a wonderful organization. Our students who have a “Big” really look forward to seeing them all week. The students receive help with homework or just spend time with a friend. Students learn responsibility from their “Big”. One of our students meets with her Big Sister every Friday morning. The student has to take responsibility, making sure she wakes up early enough to spend time with her Big Sister before school starts. We also see improvement in the behaviors of other "Littles" who are now matched with a “Big”.
